{"id":522,"date":"2010-02-12T13:35:43","date_gmt":"2010-02-12T18:35:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nylinuxhelp.com\/blogs\/?p=522"},"modified":"2010-02-12T13:35:43","modified_gmt":"2010-02-12T18:35:43","slug":"favorite-linux-apps-burning-disks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nylinuxhelp.com\/blogs\/linux-apps\/favorite-linux-apps-burning-disks","title":{"rendered":"Favorite Linux Apps: Burning disks"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Linux Gui Application to Burn CDs\/DVDs<\/h2>\n<p>Depending on your Linux distribution, you already have an application capable of burning Data CDs for file\/folder backups and Music CDs.\u00a0 Most of them offer the ability to <a title=\"How to burn an iso file to CD or DVD\" href=\"https:\/\/help.ubuntu.com\/community\/BurningIsoHowto\" target=\"_blank\">burn an .iso file<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I usually install <a title=\"K3B CD and DVD burning software\" href=\"http:\/\/k3b.plainblack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">K3B (KDE-based) for disk burning<\/a>.\u00a0 Install k3b with <strong>Synaptic package manager<\/strong>:\u00a0 type &#8220;k3b&#8221; [no quotes] after clicking the &#8220;Search&#8221; button.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re using a non-KDE System, let Synaptic install any extra items.<\/p>\n<p>I prefer k3b because I find it more reliable than other burning software that may come bundled with a distro.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t name applications, but for one reason or another they disappointed me, even though community opinion of them is high.<\/p>\n<p>There are times when you just have to trust your instincts and experiences.<\/p>\n<p>When something works for you, use it.\u00a0 If it gives you headaches, then seek alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the benefit of choice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Linux Gui Application to Burn CDs\/DVDs Depending on your Linux distribution, you already have an application capable of burning Data CDs for file\/folder backups and Music CDs.\u00a0 Most of them offer the ability to burn an .iso file.
